Root Canal Treatment

Save an Infected Tooth and Relieve Pain

Root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is used to treat infection inside the tooth. At Allenby Gardens Dental, this procedure helps relieve pain, remove infection, and save your natural tooth.

When the nerve inside a tooth becomes infected through deep decay or injury, root canal treatment may be the most effective way to restore oral health and avoid extraction.

How Root Canal Treatment Works

During root canal treatment, our dentists carefully remove the infected nerve tissue and bacteria from inside the tooth. The root canals are then cleaned, disinfected, and filled with sterile materials to prevent further infection.

In most cases, treatment is completed over multiple appointments to ensure the tooth is thoroughly cleaned and sealed.

Local anaesthetic is used during the procedure, so it should feel similar to having a normal filling.

After Root Canal Treatment

Once treatment is complete, the infection and pain should be resolved, allowing you to keep your natural tooth.

If the tooth has been heavily filled or weakened, our dentists may recommend a dental crown afterwards to provide extra strength and protection.

Please arrive 10 mins earlier to fill in our new patient medical and dental history form, so that we can gather all the information before discussing with our dentist your chief concerns, which we will aim to address first. If time permits, our dentists will perform a thorough exam of your teeth and take some X-rays to make sure we identify all issues in regards to your oral health. We will then provide you with insights about your teeth and oral hygiene, and if required - discuss possible personalised treatment options with you, providing detailed explanations using visuals from photos and X-rays. We don’t just look after you today but we also plan with you for the next 10 years.

At Allenby Gardens Dental, we recommend our patients to come back twice a year to have a regular check up and clean. This can help us to identify problems early and treat the issue when it is easy to manage. It is also important to maintain the healthiness of your teeth and gum.

We recommend parents to bring their child in for their first visit when their first tooth has come through. This will allow the kid to get used to the dental environment and enjoy a ride in the chair. Our goal is to establish a comfortable and pleasant experience for the child and establish a good impression from a young age, so that we can help guide them towards looking after their oral hygiene together.
