Gentle Dental Care for Children

Children Dental Clinic Adelaide

At Allenby Gardens Dental, we are a trusted children dental clinic Adelaide families rely on for gentle and friendly dental care. Our experienced dentists create a comfortable environment where children feel relaxed and confident during their dental visits.

Early children’s dental care helps kids develop healthy habits that protect their teeth for life. Therefore, we encourage parents looking for a reliable kids dentist in Adelaide to bring their children for regular dental check-ups so we can monitor their oral development and prevent potential problems.

Our team explains each step in a simple and reassuring way, helping children feel comfortable and build positive experiences with dental care.

Why Children’s Dental Care Is Important

Children’s teeth play a crucial role in eating, speaking, and guiding the growth of permanent teeth. When baby teeth develop cavities or infections, they can affect a child’s overall oral health.

Regular dental visits help detect issues early and allow dentists to treat problems before they become more serious.

In addition, early dental care teaches children how to maintain good oral hygiene habits such as proper brushing and flossing.

Children’s Dental Services

At Allenby Gardens Dental, we provide a range of dental services designed for children, including:

  • Regular dental check-ups and cleans
  • Fluoride treatments to strengthen enamel
  • Fissure sealants to protect molars from decay
  • Tooth-coloured fillings for cavities
  • Monitoring the growth and development of teeth
  • Oral hygiene education for children and parents

By providing preventive care and early treatment, we help children maintain healthy smiles as they grow.

Other Services

Stainless steel crown

When the decay is getting too deep and close to the nerve, our dentist might suggest to have a stainless steel crown to protect their baby teeth. Instead of having recurrent decay around the fillings, stainless steel crown can minimise the chances of needing the re-treatment of the same tooth in the next few years.

Custom-made mouthguard

If your children play contact sports or activities, we highly recommend getting them a custom mouth guard because the cost of a mouth guard is much lower than fixing a broken tooth and the pain associated with the ulcers on their lips. We will use putty to take moulds of their teeth and fabricate the mouth guard in a local lab. Your kids can pick and choose the colour of the mouth guard that matches their team. Dental examination prior to mouth guard fabrication is essential because of the rapid changes of their teeth now and in the near future.

Creating Positive Dental Experiences

Many children feel nervous about visiting the dentist. However, our team focuses on making each appointment calm, friendly, and supportive.

We use a gentle approach and clear communication to help children feel safe during treatment. In addition, we encourage children to ask questions and become involved in their oral health.

These positive experiences help children develop confidence and reduce dental anxiety in the future.

Support for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS)

Eligible children may receive dental treatment through the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS), which provides financial support for basic dental services.

Our team can help check eligibility and explain the services covered under the program.

Please arrive 10 mins earlier to fill in our new patient medical and dental history form, so that we can gather all the information before discussing with our dentist your chief concerns, which we will aim to address first. If time permits, our dentists will perform a thorough exam of your teeth and take some X-rays to make sure we identify all issues in regards to your oral health. We will then provide you with insights about your teeth and oral hygiene, and if required - discuss possible personalised treatment options with you, providing detailed explanations using visuals from photos and X-rays. We don’t just look after you today but we also plan with you for the next 10 years.

At Allenby Gardens Dental, we recommend our patients to come back twice a year to have a regular check up and clean. This can help us to identify problems early and treat the issue when it is easy to manage. It is also important to maintain the healthiness of your teeth and gum.

We recommend parents to bring their child in for their first visit when their first tooth has come through. This will allow the kid to get used to the dental environment and enjoy a ride in the chair. Our goal is to establish a comfortable and pleasant experience for the child and establish a good impression from a young age, so that we can help guide them towards looking after their oral hygiene together.
